The shop at 34 Rongotai Road has an extensive stock catering to your entire hobby needs and more besides. Owner Rick Barrett has turned his passion for model making, history and love of all things vehicle related into a shop packed full of planes, cars, boats, and war gaming. “I wanted to provide Wellington with a well stocked and variety filled shop” he says. Between now and Christmas The Hobby Stop will be open seven days a week and offering discounts on most of its stock. The shop is stocking the world renowned model kits by Miramar based Wingnut Wings, “These are pinnacle of model kit engineering, you really can’t get any better” says Barrett. Rick’s love of modelling started as a young boy when he used to help his dad construct model ships and planes. Next year The Hobby Stop will be giving others an opportunity to discover their love of model making when Rick runs Easter school holiday model making classes. “It’s great to have a hobby that doesn’t require a screen, stimulates your creativity and tests your perseverance. I want to share that” says Rick.
