Kerikeri Cooking Club

Kerikeri Cooking Club

Concept: The Kerikeri Cooking Club is a participant-driven, hands on, fun-cooking group that engages people in preparing and eating food together. The Kerikeri Cooking Club replaces the chef’s tutorial with a lateral learning structure in which the participants/club members teach each other, learning new cooking skills or sharing their existing talents with other participants in the process. Armed with local ingredients sourced from the area, a fully equipped kitchen (flourflower) and their own creative juices, participants break into groups of 2-4 to work together to decipher different recipes, creating a menu of seasonal dishes that are then eaten on-site in the dinning room. The KCC will occasionally feature recipes from guest, chefs, artisans, authors and educators who have a passion for cooking and eating. On-site, the guests will assist participants with various cooking techniques required for their receipts. The Club is for all levels of cooks. How the CC works: 1. At 5:45 PM Club members gather in the kitchen at flourflower and are introduced to the recipes they will be preparing that evening. All food and equipment is provided and set out in advance by the facilitator of the month. 2. Members then team up in groups and begin cooking the recipes at prepared recipe stations, set up with all of the ingredients, kitchen tools and utensils they need. 3. Once all of the dishes have been prepared, members eat together in the dinning room, discuss the different recipes that were prepared and make plans for the next Club date. Evening ends 8:45 pm or thereabouts.
