Whakatane Judo Club

Cnr Bridge St & Kirk St, Whakatane ,
Our Mission: Teaching individual development and mutual growth through the practice of Judo. Judo is an ideal sport for all ages, males and females, and can cater for many disability groups. Confidence and self-esteem may be enhanced as a member progresses through the ranks. The very nature of the grading system ensures that the next goal is always realistic and achievable with application and effort. Judo training is an ideal form of physical exercise and it serves as a great cardiovascular workout, improving stamina, general health, and overall fitness. A sport practiced worldwide in over 200 countries, Judo has been on the Olympic program since 1964, and is regularly contested at the Commonwealth Games. Judo is designed to help build and develop young people of sound moral character and honest conduct. Children are encouraged to develop their physical and psychological well being, in a fun and safe manner whilst enabling them to acquire the basic principles of the sport. Judo is very much a sport than a martial art in that it does not involve any kicking, punching or striking. It is disciplined and provides physical fitness and mental stimulation in a fun and exciting way, but above all teaches children respect for one and other.

Whangarei Hash House Harriers

Whangarei Hash House Harriers

Hash House Harriers, Whangarei ,
Hash House Harriers (abbreviated to HHH, H3, or referred to simply as hashing) is an international group of non-competitive running, social clubs. An event organized is known as a hash or hash run, with participants calling themselves hashers or hares and hounds. We run every Tuesday at approx 6:10pm. Details of the run will be written on the HHH blackboard on the fence in the PAK'nSave car park, near the exit at the Walton Street end. If the Hare (Hasher who has set the run that week) has set the run from a different location it will be written on the blackboard and the start time will take into account travel time to that location from the PAK'nSave car park (generally 6:20pm). After each run we have an 'ON ON'. This includes a meal, drinks and a good ole time. If the run is set from the PAK'nSave car park we will have the 'ON ON' at a pub, tavern, restaurant etc or alternatively if the run set from the Hares residence or designated location, we may have the ON ON there in the form of a BBQ, pot luck or a HASH MASH etc.. Most summer runs/ON ON's are from great random locations where we can have a BBQ or swim afterwards. See you all there ON ON
