Orewa Longboard Club

Orewa Longboard Club

The club was set up towards the end of 2003 following interest from a wide spectrum of surfers predominantly from the Hibiscus Coast/North Harbour areas of Auckland. The aim of the club is to provide a social, competitive and networking base for interested surfers/longboarders. The club presently has around 108 paid up members (male and female) who range in age from teens to +50’s. The club has a low key friendly approach and is open to anyone who is interested (you don’t have to be a Kelly Slater lookalike or a pro-surfer). We welcome anyone keen to learn or advance in the art of longboarding.

The Otorohanga Cricket Club play in the Waikato Valley Cricket Competition. Waikato Valley Cricket Association was formed as a result of an amalgamation between the areas formerly known as Thames Valley Cricket and Midlands Cricket in 2003. From a changeable beginning Waikato Valley is now a progressive, flexible association which has its cricketers at heart. Geographically it covers the greater Waikato region including the towns of Cambridge, Morrinsville and Matamata centrally and extends as far north as the Coromandel, Te Kauwhata, Thames and Waihi and as far South as Te Awamutu, Te Kuiti, Taumaranui and Mangakino. WVCA competes and is affiliated to the Northern Districts Cricket Association, one of the six first class Major Associations in New Zealand. Our Premiere Men’s representative side is known as the Waikato Valley Rep Side. Waikato Valley also has a Waikato Valley B Men’s rep team and a Waikato Valley Women’s rep team. Whilst the senior teams represent Waikato Valley as a whole, at a junior level our age group representative teams are formed into two distinct geographical areas. As mentioned the former age group representative teams of Thames Valley and Midlands are now known as Waikato Valley Plains and Waikato Valley South age group teams. The two Junior areas have representative teams at Primary Boys, Under 15’s, Under 17’s, and Under 19’s levels. Waikato Valley has a combined Primary Girls and Secondary Girls team. Waikato Valley Cricket Association is the largest Minor Association, geographically in New Zealand. The following towns and areas as highlighted on the map make up Waikato Valley: Coromandel ~ Whitianga ~ Whangamata ~ Waihi ~ Thames ~ Te Kauwhata ~ Ngatea ~ Paeroa ~ Te Aroha ~ Morrinsville ~ Matamata ~ Cambridge ~ Putaruru ~ Tokoroa ~ Te Awamutu ~ Pirongia ~ Otorohanga ~ Te Kuiti ~ Piopio ~ Taumaranui ~ Mangakino
