This facebook page is an initiative of YWCA Whanganui Inc and has been created to act as an online directory to point the way to services needed. Our objective is to get the information needed out there and CONNECT OUR COMMUNITY.

The WDC Youth Committee is made up of 18 diverse young people ranging in age from 12-24 years old. Our job is to speak up, speak out and be heard on issues that effect youth in our city. We meet formally in the Council Chambers once every 6 weeks and informally as well. We make submissions on behalf of the youth of Wanganui, run events such as Picnic In The Park and have initiatives like $300ships to help our young people achieve their dreams.

The Wanganui City Mission provides caring, professional social services to those in need throughout Wanganui. Our office is open 9am until 2:30pm Monday - Friday In emergencies we are on call 24 hours a day on (06) 3452139 The work of the City Mission benefits mostly from Church Levies, charitable trusts and Foundations. Funding also comes from individual donations and bequests from the people of Wanganui. Added to this is the contribution of time and skills of dozens of volunteer workers in all areas of the City Missions operations. FUNDRAISING: On average it costs in excess of $800 A DAY to keep our services running - and demand is growing! Monetary donations can be made directly to the Wanganui City Missions Account: 03-0791-0434015-000 If you wish your donation to be directed to a specific area of our work (See PRODUCTS) please indicate your preference in the reference section. Donations of non- perishable food, toiletry items, fresh fruit/ vegetables for the Foodbank are always greatly appreciated! These can be dropped off to the Foodbank located at 183 Wicksteed street Wanganui Between 9am and 2:30pm Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays)

T.S Calliope is a Sea Cadet Unit of New Zealand Cadet Forces, based in Wanganui. We parade Thursdays during the school terms, from 6.30 pm (1830 hours) to 9.00 pm (2100 hours). Boys and girls aged 13 to 18 are eligible to join.
