Our menu transports the cuisine from parts of Europe to Waikanae Beach. We are a rustic garden café in a lovely relaxing natural setting located at Harrison's Gardenworld, Waikanae, New Zealand. Come and enjoy our traditional breakfast or brunch menu selection: homemade paté, steak sandwich, toasted sandwiches, BLT, corn fritters with bacon, and more. We offer a a selection from the cabinet of homemade quiches, savouries, filo and ficelles served with salad and vinaigrette dressing. Sandwiches, scones, muffins and more. Slices and cakes with yoghurt or fresh whipped cream on the side. The Café is also available for Small Function Catering with fresh finger food platters for birthdays, funerals, office functions, parties, presentation and family celebrations – served in our lovely garden café, or delivered to your door.

Owner & Chef Craig McBrearty is passionate about providing great service to complement the food that is based on fresh local produce. Co-owner & Manager Hilary Bowen and provides the culinary experience, having worked with top chef Peter Gordon in London, and at restaurants in Europe and the United States. The Front Room offers what Craig describes as “modern/contemporary” cuisine, with a brunch menu from 9am-3pm and lunch from 11.30am-3pm. Between 3pm and dinner, you can relax with a wine or beer and enjoy an antipasto platter. Dinner is from 5.30pm till late. The menu reflects the Front Room’s location: Waikanae Beach. One of the dinner specialties, the Waikanae crab, is caught by local fishermen only a stone’s throw away. The Front Room is fully licensed, but BYO wine on Sundays and Mondays. We also have live music nights on the first Thursday of every month.
