Takeme2India
The trigger for Takeme2India happened when we attended a children’s programme last year. There was a school production, where a group of children get blown off across the world on a bunch of balloons. During their bizarre journey, they land in different countries and experience the local art & culture. It was a beautiful showcase of multi-cultural talent. Traditional songs and dances were performed from Pacifika, China, Japan and many other countries. The children inevitably landed in India. We were getting excited!
To our horror, there was a film shooting scene played out to a blaring Bollywood song, complete with dancing children, a director and a cameraman! We had our heads in our hands. Is this what representing India? Is butter chicken the only “Indian curry Is Taj Mahal the only wonder from the country, which is 12 times bigger than the land area of New Zealand? There is much more to India that this!
That was the seed which has now germinated into this little plant Takeme2India. We want to show you what real India is. It is a country of a billion people. Every few hundred kilometres travelled presents different clothing styles, language, food and heritage, which would amaze and overwhelm new visitors. The landscape itself differs from dry lands to lush green tea plantations, excellent beaches and forests teeming with wildlife.
Takeme2India runs fully escorted tours to South India, which take Kiwi guests to places that do not feature in other package tours. We have created an itinerary that balances not-to-be-missed attractions with plenty of local flavour. For example, our guests will visit one of the 1300 year old UNESCO World Heritage sites to explore the centuries-old architecture and sculptures. The very next day, they mingle with the locals of a tiny village in Tamil Nadu State, hosted by a local family for the day.
We are proud of the diversity of India, and of the thread that keeps unity intact. If you are keen to learn more about Indian heritage, why don’t you also try our Indian cooking classes that are held in Palmerston North? Visit us on www.indianvegcooking.co.nz Our classes provide a lot of insight into the Indian way of living, in which nutrition and health are layered with taste.
