No Amps Allowed

No Amps Allowed

Centrestage Theatre, 60 Centreway Road, Orewa ,
On Friday 25th May 2012 No Amps Allowed rolled into The Foyer @ Centrestage Theatre for the first time. With a handfull a talented vocalists, a guitar, and a DJ with a playlist of chilled electro beats, an expectant crowd sat in wait to see what it was all about. Over the next 3 hours they were blown away by the singing ability of three handpicked performers from the local area. Complemented by a wicked DJ set, the tone was set for what has followed and what is No Amps Allowed. Set up as a platform for talented local performers to do their thing in the most intimate of settings and in it's most exposed form, No Amps has given performers the opportunity to to do what they do best to an appreciative crowd. No Amps appeared three times in it's first year producing standout performances from 9 different performers. At NAA 3, this evolved further with DJ Mandella playing on long after the last performer cranking classic and current electro beats. A standard has been set that must now be maintained. Whilst No Amps is not an 'open mic night' as such we encourage any potential performers to forward us a demo if they wish to play. An short video recorded on a mobile phone is sufficient and can be forwarded to thegarage.armybay@gmail.com With the full support of Centrestage Theatre we envisage No Amps becoming a regular event and a genuinely good night outside of the city. See you there.
