The Rohingya community in New Zealand is basically formed by the Rohingya refugees who have been resettling into New Zealand since 2002 until today by the quota refugee program. The Rohingya refugees resettled into New Zealand mostly from Bangladesh and Malaysia. Few of the Rohingya families have received citizenship certificates recently while the rest are holding Permanent Resident Visas. The senior Rohingya family always helping new arrivals providing them many kind of assistance. According to the UNHCR, the cases were referred to the New Zealand immigration which falls into the resettlement criteria under UNHCR refugee resettlement guidelines.
