Upper Hutt College is a New Zealand high school surrounded by nature on the edge of the capital. Upper Hutt has a beautiful setting, nestled between the crystal clear waters of the Hutt River and the tree covered hills of the Rimutakas. It is little wonder that Peter Jackson chose this area for the peaceful Rivendell scenes in his Lord of the Rings films. Enjoy the best of both worlds. At Upper Hutt College you can experience both the cosmopolitan capital city of Wellington with its cafes, shopping, art galleries and museums and at the same time the beautiful river and forest scenery of the Upper Hutt valley. You can live close to nature on the edge of the capital. We are just 20 minutes drive away from the centre of Wellington. Regular train and bus services give you easy access to the city centre.
