Northland Operational Support Unit
The Northland Operational Support Unit (Northland OSU) was formerly the Whangarei Volunteer Fire Brigade and is the oldest Fire Brigade in Northland.
Whangarei Volunteer Fire Brigade was not being uitilised to its full capacity and the NZFS modified its current call out structure, vehicles and uniforms. The Northland OSU will now run as a non-operational unit ie. will not fight fires, rather it will provide support to the operational Fire Fighters.

List of Duties:
Flooding Assistance,
Traffic Control,
Lighting,
Public Safety,
and any other forms of Support where requested by another Fire Brigade, NZ Police, NZ Civil Defence, St. John Ambulance etc.
