About Touch Southland Touch Southland is the governing body for Touch in Southland and is one of 18 provincial touch associations linking to the national body, Touch New Zealand. Geographically it covers the Southland province, including the Queenstown area. Touch Southland runs modules in Invercargill, Gore, Otautau, Winton, Queenstown, Te Anau and Waikaka. There are more than 1700 adults and more than 2400 juniors playing touch throughout the region. The organisation was formed in 1993 to promote and administer touch rugby in Southland. Warren Bryant is the regional manager. Touch Southland is a non-profit organisation and is based at SBS Sports House at Stadium Southland in Invercargill. The Board The Board consists of six members: Leslie Baxter (chair) Chris Thomson Neal Eade Sandra Young John Evans (referees delegate) Russell Tempero Life Members Touch Southland has two life members: Alan Henry Mike Saunders Mission Statement To deliver and manage quality touch opportunities for all levels of age and ability in the Southland community Strategic Goals 1.To provide quality participation opportunities and increase the number of Touch Southland members in the community 2.To attract touch participants under the Southland umbrella by providing quality resources, services and information through an efficient and effective delivery structure 3.To develop the game of touch and increase the numbers involved with junior touch in Southland by providing appropriate structures and support 4.To be the recognised supplier, promoter and developer of touch in Southland and for touch to be recognised as the number one participation sport in Southland 5.To provide high quality technical resources, services and training in coaching, refereeing and selection for all levels of touch 6.To increase the ability, level and performance of Southland players representing the province in all grades 7.To operate effective financial and administration systems and resources which service the activities of the organisation
