Our goal is to establish a World Heritage StarLight Reserve in the Lake Tekapo / Aoraki Mount Cook area in the foreseeable future so that young and old can utilise the Mount John Observatory's programmes and facilities to fully enjoy the night sky and learn more about astronomy.
The StarLight Reserve initiative aims to protect and control the amount of ambient light surrounding this facility so that people of all ages can learn about the night sky in order to better understand and appreciate the environment, both above and around them. We heartily encourage you to see the majestic night skies that the region has to offer by joining one of our tours, either at Mount John or Cowan's Hill.

If you request 2 person in a single bed room, we also able to provide extra mattress, charge may apply.
A brand new 2 bedroom fully furnished holiday bach in stunning Lake Tekapo New Zealand. It is in the process of being built with the build starting with a site clearance in May 2013.
The bach can sleep 6 people.
As we near completion a booking link will be added to this site.
Friendly local drivers will provide information about the area as we drive you on a relaxed timetable around some of New Zealand's most stunning locations. There will be plenty of time for photos along the way as well.
