PITA (Primary Industries Trades Academy)

PITA (Primary Industries Trades Academy)

Cornwall Road RD 7, Masterton ,
The PITA programme is for students who are still in school in years 11-13. On PITA you spend one day a week either with a tutor doing assessments and earning credits towards your level 2 & 3 NCEA, or out on a farm getting practical experience. Some of our students also work with horses or in vet practices. In the first year you do a general course in agriculture and in your second year you can choose to specialise in either dairy or sheep. By the end of the course you will have valuable credits for your NCEA and a National Certificate in Agriculture Level 2 - Introductory skills and a National Certificate in Agriculture Level 2 - Strands (dairy or sheep). This gives you a great step up whether you want to go on to tertiary study, go into the workforce or come to Taratahi fulltime.
Masterton Christian Child Care

Masterton Christian Child Care

Cnr Queen St and Worksop Rd, Masterton ,
THE CENTRE PHILOSOPHY STATEMENT We aim to provide a safe and nurturing environment where children and their families have a sense of belonging and where they feel valued and respected as individuals. By providing for their well being we have a basis from which they can reach their full potential. We are committed to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, to working with and responding to the needs of Tangata Whenua, and to respecting diversity. We encourage our children, whanau and staff to take pride in their cultural heritage. Children grow and develop best where all adults work collaboratively and co-operatively. This includes teachers, families, church community, local community and outside educational agencies. We aim to empower children to become self-motivated learners by creating an environment that offers choice, opportunity, interest, stimulation and challenges. Learning experiences are extended out into our community and wider world. The MCCCP respects the diversity of belief and ethnicity found within our community and encourages children, young people and parents to be proud of their family/whanau and cultural heritage. MCCCP is committed to a practical outworking of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and to working with whanau, hapu and iwi to respond to the needs of tangata whenua.
