The Cliffhanger Swing This is our newest activity on site, and it’s just awesome. It’s a giant swing, but do not be fooled by the word ‘swing’, it’s called the Cliffhanger for a reason. This is appropriately named as you are winched out just four and a half metres away from the cliff face, hanging in a body harness, 44 metres above the river, waiting for our crew to pull the cord. Once cut away you will experience exhilarating speeds of up to 80kph, whilst getting the rush of a 40 metre drop, plus gaining height of anywhere between 30 and 40 metres once you hit the centre of the arc!

Wairakei Terraces and Thermal Health Spa

Wairakei Road, State Highway 1&5, Wairakei, Taupo ,
Hot Thermal Pools…… geysers, hot pools, boiling springs, mud craters and mud baths with peculiar healing properties… Quotation; Wairakei the Wonderful, published in 1919 Significant natural thermal springs; mud and silica waters found in geothermal areas have been used for hundreds of years by Maori for healing and wellness. Specific sites were often located in beautiful landscapes, at the junction of rivers and streams, on the shores of pristine lakes and below magnificent silica terraces. At Wairakei Terraces, pools of varying temperatures between have been strategically positioned below the silica terraces and waterfall, taking full advantage of the geothermal water flow that is drawn to the earth’s surface from 1.5 kilometres underground. These mineral enriched pools, soft and silky to the touch and striking blue in colour, provide the perfect setting for complete rest and relaxation. With the reinstatement of the ‘Te Kiri o Hinekai’ stream in 2002, many native birds have been attracted back to the area, their calls and songs are melodious to the human earand are in harmony with this natural setting of cascading and flowing water, gushing geyser and billowing steam. An evening activity offers a rare opportunity to experience the very cornerstone of Maori custom and culture, participate in a traditional welcome conducted by the local Maori people in their traditional costume, a guided tour of a Maori village naturally lit up at night, and featuring carvers, weavers and tattooists displaying the ancient arts of Maori. Partake of a traditional ground cooked meal (hangi) and enjoy a concert of song, dance and haka. This experience is intense, powerful and emotional and will leave the visitor with lasting memories of a culture that is alive and growing.
