Hutt Old Boys Marist has followed a deliberate programme of developing the Club from its “grassroots†– putting heavy emphasis on age grade teams with the full knowledge that sustained success at this level will ultimately bring rewards at a higher level.
This approach has led to success with a number of club players having enjoyed higher honours in recent years, making the Hurricanes, Wellington Lions, Wellington Development and Age Grade representative teams. The Club has national representatives in Jeremy Thrush (NZ U19 and U21) and Hosea Gear (NZ 7’s, NZ Maori and All Blacks).
The Club has well-established links with a number of colleges in the Hutt Valley and provides both financial and human resources to assist these colleges in developing their rugby.
The Petone Riverside Cricket Club was established in 1995 as an amalgamation of the Petone and Riverside Cricket Clubs. The club currently has five sides competing in the Inter City and Hutt Valley Competitions.
Located in the heart of Petone the club plays out of the Petone Recreation Ground which is also home to the Petone Rugby Club, Hutt Valley Harriers and Hutt Valley Touch Rugby.
